The middle school program at Lititz Christian consists of students in grades 6-8. While all we do is designed to fit under the umbrella of the Lititz Christian School Mission Statement, we believe that our place in the middle years of a student’s development is in all areas: mind, body and spirit.
Our primary goal is to prepare our students for the academic, social, and spiritual challenges they will face in high school. We must remain vigilant in our desire to not simply tell students what they need to do, but equip them with the necessary skills to make wise choices in every area of life.
Academically, we seek to immerse our children in an environment that forces them to think and to articulate those thoughts in both written and oral forms. While the learning of facts is critical, we believe that developing the foundational aspects of learning such as listening, reading, note taking, outlining, and producing written and oral reports are vital to the future academic successes of each student.
Social development and the opportunity to sample new experiences are both key components of the fine arts and athletic programs available to our middle school students. Fine arts opportunities are available in both curricular and extra-curricular formats for all middle school students. Music, art, band, and choir are available during the school day or in an extracurricular format.
There are a number of sports available in each athletic season. Lititz Christian seeks to encourage students to be active participants in school-sponsored activities, bonding the student and the school together as a close-knit unit. Our job is to help children identify their gifts and then give them the platform to use their talents for God’s glory.
What we hold to be most important is the spiritual and character development of the children in our care. We want Jesus Christ and His love to be evident in all we do. This begins with the hiring of people who enthusiastically support the mission, values, and faith statement of Lititz Christian. We desire that our faculty will model high moral character and Christian ideals for our students on a daily basis. While chapel services, Bible studies, mission trips, and service opportunities all place our children in strong and active Christian settings, we recognize that what influences children most is building relationships with adults who speak and model a life that is committed to Jesus Christ.
We believe that a student will remember far more about who we are than what we teach them. We must remember that we teach children, not just our subject matter. Simply put, we want to impact the lives of our students in a positive way each day, in order to bring glory to God’s Kingdom.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about the Lititz Christian middle school program. May God bless you this day!
